St. John's Night with the Song and Dance Ensemble "Kujawy" and Krajeńska Hamlet
It has become a tradition that the residents of Wloclawek spend St. John’s Night in Henryk Sienkiewicz Park with the Song and Dance Ensemble ”Kujawy”.
For the residents of our city there will also be workshops on making coronets, which will be released together with the Song and Dance Ensemble ”Kujawy” during the evening show.
This year we are also waiting for a number of attractions related to the arrival of a historical reconstruction group - Krajeńska Hamlet.
"Krajeńska Hamlet" is a group dealing with the reconstruction of culture from the ninth and tenth century.
Through their shows and workshops, they will bring us closer to the lives of ancient Slavs, including: smoking and drying of fish in wooden smoking chambers, as well as fishing craft demonstration (fishgigs, fishnets). This will be a living lesson of history in which the viewer himself can participate and learn about the life of people from the beginning of a Polish state.
We will see: the construction of a hearth, during which the food will be cooked on, including: (various types of groats, lentil in clay pots from the early Middle Ages), tasting, burning fire with the punk and flint connected with the story of burning and storing fire, baking podpłomyki - ( a simple kind of flat bread, often made without yeast ), common fun in obtaining flour using stone querns, kneading dough, tasting podpłomyki with honey and powidła (a kind of jam), preparing fish for smoking, brine, drying and smoking of fish in a wooden smokehouse, tasting connected with discussing the old smoking techniques, baking a sourdough bread wrapped in horseradish leaves, in a campfire under a clay shade, fun for children: fishing, throwing fishgigs, working in a fisherman's workshop, doing fishgigs together with discussing fishing techniques. Demonstration of doing linen nets (learning for volunteers).
The historic festival will begin at 17.00 (show at 20.30).
